Spirence Partners with the City of Coconut Creek to Advance Employee Mental Health Through BHAP Initiative

Spirence Partners with the City of Coconut Creek to Advance Employee Mental Health Through BHAP Initiative

Earlier this month, the City of Coconut Creek was awarded the Gold Level Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America. The Bell Seal is the nation’s top recognition for employer mental wellness commitment. This honor recognizes organizations that have built supportive, stigma-free workplaces through comprehensive programming, and the City’s BHAP was central to that achievement.

“Supporting the mental health and well-being of our employees is a top priority for the City of Coconut Creek,” said Katelyn DiCintio, Safety and Wellness Program Manager for the City of Coconut Creek. “Through our Behavioral Health Access Program, we’ve built a strong foundation of resources, and our partnership with Spirence allows us to expand that support even further. By focusing on preventative care, we are empowering our employees with the tools they need to stay resilient, engaged, and well—both at work and in their personal lives.”

Through Spirence’s preventative mental health platform, City employees will have access to tools designed to address mental well-being before challenges become crises. Spirence builds on the City’s existing BHAP foundation of peer support specialists, licensed mental health clinicians, and chaplaincy services, extending care further upstream. The partnership is funded through the City’s employee health insurance benefits, at no additional cost to taxpayers.

When municipal employees thrive mentally and emotionally, the benefits extend well beyond City Hall. Research consistently shows that engaged, supported employees deliver better service, exercise stronger judgement, and build more positive interactions with the communities they serve. For Coconut Creek residents, a healthier workforce translates directly into more responsive, attentive, and effective public services.

“We are grateful to work alongside organizations that are equally committed to advancing preventative mental health and strengthening the communities they serve,” said Laura Kunz, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Spirence. “These are low-cost, high-impact investments that don’t just support today’s workforce, they create ripple effects that extend across families and generations. There’s nothing more meaningful than that.”

Spirence and the City of Coconut Creek would also like to extend their gratitude to Gehring Group, Brown & Brown Public Sector for facilitating this partnership. Their dedication to employee well-being and commitment to connecting organizations with the right resources continues to open doors for meaningful change.

The City of Coconut Creek joins a growing number of forward-thinking organizations who recognize that preventative mental health is not a luxury, it is a foundation for organizational resilience and community trust.

About Spirence

Spirence delivers a personalized, preventative mental health experience that meets employees in their daily moments, not just in times of crisis.

The result is a proactive investment in people that helps employees feel supported, understood, and equipped before challenges escalate, transforming mental health from a reactive expense into an everyday foundation for performance and well-being.
