The City of Palm Bay Raises the Bar on Employee Mental Health with Spirence

The City of Palm Bay has been actively building a culture of employee wellness, most recently announcing a $0 co-pay for mental health visits at its Annual Health and Wellness Fair. That focus on employee well-being earned them Mental Health America’s Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health, the nation’s top recognition for U.S. employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces. The Spirence partnership builds on that momentum, going beyond benefits and into the everyday moments where preventative support matters most.

“We’ve been intentional about building a culture where employee wellness is a priority,” said Laura Clawson, Human Resources Director for the City of Palm Bay. “Offering a $0 co-pay for mental health visits was an important step, but Spirence allows us to take our commitment to employee well-being even further by giving our people support in the moments that make up their day. Instead of waiting for people to struggle, we’re giving them what they need to stay well.”

The Spirence platform will give Palm Bay municipal employees access to mental health education, live coaches, and expert-built tools that help boost wellness literacy, reduce stigma, and target everyday stressors and anxiety before they escalate into crises.

“Organizations like The City of Palm Bay are exactly why we believe the future of workplace mental health is prevention-first,” said Laura Kunz, Co-Founder, President, and Chief Commercial Officer of Spirence. “Their team recognized the gap that exists for the 75% of employees who are underserved by traditional workplace mental health models and took meaningful action to address it. Palm Bay has made a clear investment in building a culture where employee mental well-being is prioritized through comprehensive resources, dedicated support, and forward-thinking leadership. We are proud to partner with an organization so deeply committed to helping employees thrive personally and professionally.”

This partnership was brought to life with the help of Gehring Group, Brown & Brown Public Sector, whose introduction made this collaboration possible.

Together, Spirence and the City of Palm Bay are moving from reactive care to everyday prevention, building a workplace culture where employees feel equipped, resilient, and well before challenges arise.
